And yet more June Photo a Day

So, moving right along with the June Photo a Day...

Day #15~ Yellow
My small collection of wooden shoes.

Day #16~ Out and About
For this one, I need to share a few photos. I mean really, who can sum up "out and about" in just one photo? And the out and about part of my day wasn't all that exciting with just some stops a various strip malls and such. I had to work really hard to find some interesting photos.

I found these rows of carts and hand trucks at Home Depot interestingly photogenic.

As well as these freshly painted lines at the convenience store.

Some pretty wildflowers planted in the curbing area at the shopping mall.

And my buddy the Red Winged Blackbird who lives in the midst of the traffic pattern near the mall. This isn't a very good photo of him, but after months of trying to catch a photo of one of these beautiful birds, I was happy to get at least this mediocre shot. (You can't even see the red in his wing.) But this quest for a photo is actually an entire blog post that I've had planned in the back of my head for a while, so I'll tell you more about it another time.

Day #17~ In Your Bag
There seems to be a lot stuffed into my bag lately. Wallet, sunglasses case, phone, tissues cozy, lipstick, lip balm, work keys, car/house keys, pens, gum, floss, eye drops, pad, and the all important camera!

I have NO idea what I'm going to show you for tomorrow's photo: "Something We Don't Know About You". See you soon...
P.S. I just killed a fly and I think it fell into my bag. Should I update the photo?

More June Photo a Day

I've been keeping up with my photos every day even if I haven't had the time to post them each day. I have to say, I'm really enjoying this assignment... going through my day with my daily prompt in mind. I've even gotten my family involved in the process a little bit.

I haven't always been 100% happy with the photos I've come up with. They aren't always the most creative, but I feel like I'm learning a bit from the whole process. Sometimes the story behind the photo is better than the photo itself.
So, to pick up where I left off:

#10~ Best Bit of Your Weekend
A gathering of family to celebrate a graduation!

#11~ Door
Down around the corner on Main Street in my little town.

#12~ From a Low Angle
Knit Nite at the bookstore.

#13~ Art
My dad's artwork.

#14~ Time
Timeless!

Just a note about this last photo. A few friends gathered tonight at the bookstore for an extra Knit Nite this week. I told them what today's prompt was and how I didn't want to take a photo of just a clock or watch or something, but that I hadn't come up with an idea yet. One friend suggested Time magazine. I thought it was a great idea. I didn't say it, but I thought to myself, "I hope the cover of this issue is something really cool." In a few minutes I put down my knitting and wandered over to the magazine rack. I nearly jumped out of my skin when I saw the cover! For those of you who don't know me well, I couldn't have wished for a better cover!

June Photo a Day, cont.

I really tried to balance work and play today... getting chores done while getting caught up with the Photo a Day for June.

Started out with... #1~ Morning
This is what 6:45 looks like when I open my eyes in the morning.

#9~ Your View Today
This was supposed to be my main focus for the day.

But I couldn't resist taking an hour break to sit with a friend outside in the sunshine. (It is World Wide Knit In Public Day after all.)
#4~ Close-up

Then it was back to business.
#3~ On Your Plate

Time out for another photo...
#2~ Empty

And more time out to put together this blog post. I'm happy to say I'm all caught up now with the daily photo prompts, but I've got no business working on this right now! I've got company coming tomorrow! Back to work!!!

Photo Fun

My second year of blogging is off to an exciting start. After my last couple of posts, a few of my faithful followers have help me by sending some of their followers my way. I've had a noticeable increase in traffic and some very nice people have left me messages. Thank you all so, so much!

I've been busy visiting your blogs as well, and as you probably all have experienced, often one blog post leads to another. In my travels I found a Photo-a-Day list for June that I think I'll work on. This is something I've wanted to do for a while now but just never got around to.

Today is June 8th, so with eight days into it, I have some catching up to do. I decided to start with today's prompt and work backwards with a few of the others. Over the weekend I'll catch up on the rest.

Today, #8~ 6 o'clock

#7~ Drink

#6~ Hat

#5~ Sign

Happy Memorial Day

We took a little ride to New Hope, PA today and met up with our good friends, Chuck and Carol. If you've been a reader of my blog for a while, you might remember that they are from Connecticut, where we're from originally. We normally see each other about four times a year when we visit them or they come to see us in New Jersey.  Recently though, they relocated to Pennsylvania, shortening the distance between us from four hours, to less than two! Yay!

But, getting back to our day in New Hope... We had a really beautiful day, all sunny and bright. We ate lots of good food, browsed all the fun shops and took a short ride up the Delaware River on a ferry boat.

I had a little bit of fun with my camera today, too. Enjoy some of the sights of my day.

Accidental Photo Success

Just a quick post to share a couple of my experimental photos with the "new" camera. These were taken when testing out the macro feature. I was pleased with how well they came out, without even trying.

I've been pretty busy lately, which gives me a lot to blog about, but when I haven't been busy, I've been too disorganized to get the blogging done. Stay tuned...

Accidental Photo Success

I got a new camera recently. I bought it mostly because it's known to have a great macro feature, exactly what I missed most about a camera that I had a few years ago. It also has a powerful zoom on it. I haven’t had any training in photography and don’t really expect to produce anything award winning with it, just some decent photos for my blog and my Etsy shop.

The first day I had the camera I was playing around with the various settings. I wasn’t trying to be creative, just testing out the different features and getting to know the menus. I took photos of things close and far. I tested out the Pet Continuous feature while following a bunny hopping around my yard.

This is one of the photos I took, zooming out to my neighbor’s back yard. I just love the trees and the way their shadows weave together against the stockade fence. It looks a bit like roman numerals.

To me, it is an accidental success... by someone who has no idea what she's doing. Please leave a comment and tell me what you think, or what you see in it.

I’d like to make “Accidental Photo Success” a reoccurring post title, like ”Finished Object Friday”, “Quote of the Week”, or like my friend’s KnitXcorE’s “Vinyl Monday’s”. But, the truth is, when you're counting on “successful accidents” to happen, you can’t be sure when you might have post material again. Wish me luck!
